Catskill Mountain Laser Ladle

At the Catskill Mountain Maker Camp I delivered a Laser Ladle to Jimmy Diresta to use with his plasma table.

Jimmy Diresta has a Lincoln Electric Torchmate Plasma CNC. To keep the workpiece cool he will splash the green liquid from the table on the metal while it’s cutting. As is common, someone on the internet will let him know it’s “the worst thing for you” to touch the green liquid. It’s probably totally safe, but what’s the fun in that? So I made a Laser Ladle out of Total Boat epoxy resin, green sidewalk chalk, and cedar from a reclaimed Adirondack chair.

Credit to Jimmy Diresta for sparking the idea and being a band saw wizard! Credit to Keith Decent for the inspiration to use sidewalk chalk to dye the resin an bright green. Credit to Jeff Shaw at Ideal Grain for the reclaimed Adirondack chair, it will be part of at least one future project as well!
